Privacy Policy

FutureWhisper helps families keep the voices of the people they love, and deliver those voices to the right person at the right moment. Voices are personal, so we have tried to write this in plain language.
Early access: FutureWhisper is in early access. We are a small team and we are still building. This policy describes what we do today.
Who we are
FutureWhisper is run by Sanaz Mohajerani, doing business as FutureWhisper ("we", "us"). You can reach us by email at mohajeranisanaz@gmail.com.
How FutureWhisper works, in short
A parent (the "account holder") creates an account and invites a family member, such as a grandparent (the "recorder"), to record voice messages through WhatsApp. The recorder needs no account and downloads nothing. The recordings are stored for the account holder and delivered to a person (the "recipient") on a day the account holder chooses, which may be years from now.
What we collect
From account holders: your name and email address, the details you enter about recorders and recipients, the questions you choose, your delivery choices, and (when subscriptions start) your subscription status. Payments are handled by a payment provider, and we do not store card numbers.
About recorders: the name and relationship the account holder gives us, the WhatsApp number, the preferred language (for example Farsi or English), your answer to our consent message, your voice recordings, and any text replies you send us on WhatsApp.
About recipients: the name the account holder gives us, and, if the account holder provides them, a date of birth (used to time birthday and milestone messages), an email address, and a relationship. If the recipient is a child, this information is entered by their parent.
Technical information: basic logs our hosting provider keeps (such as IP address, browser type, and time of visit) and the cookies needed to keep you logged in.
Why we use it
- To collect recordings from recorders and keep them safe.
- To deliver messages to the right person on the right day, and to send the emails and WhatsApp messages needed for that.
- To run accounts, subscriptions, and customer support.
- To keep the service secure and to stop misuse.
- To keep a record of the consent you give, so we can show it later.
Where privacy law requires a legal basis (for example in the EU and UK), we rely on your consent for recording, on contract for running an account, and on our legitimate interest in security, backups, and keeping proof of consent.
What we never do
- We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising.
- We do notclone or imitate anyone's voice, and we do not create synthetic speech from a recording.
- We do not use recordings to train artificial intelligence models.
- We do not create voiceprints or use recordings to identify anyone.
- Our team does not listen to recordings unless it is needed to fix a problem, investigate misuse, meet a legal duty, or because you asked us to.
Who we share information with
Only the service providers that run FutureWhisper for us, and only as needed to provide the service:
| Provider | What it does for us |
|---|---|
| Supabase | Database and private file storage |
| Cloudflare (R2) | A protected backup copy of recordings |
| Vercel | Hosting for the website and app |
| Meta (WhatsApp Business Platform) | Carries WhatsApp messages between recorders and us |
Messages you exchange with FutureWhisper on WhatsApp pass through Meta, which handles them under its own terms and privacy policy. We may also share information when the law requires it, or to protect people's safety.
Where your information is stored
Our main database and file storage are in the United States. Backup copies of recordings are stored in the European Union. By using FutureWhisper you understand that information may be processed in these locations.
Who recordings belong to
When a recorder records a message, the account holder who invited them becomes its owner. A message that has been delivered to a recipient is then held by that person too. Removing a message from WhatsApp, or deleting it from your own phone, does not remove it from FutureWhisper. The recorder is told this in the consent message before recording begins.
How long we keep it
We keep recordings so they can be delivered on the date chosen, even if that date is years away. If an account's subscription ends, messages are kept for a limited time and we tell the account holder before anything is archived or deleted. We keep a record of the consent you gave, along with the date and the words you were shown, even after other information is deleted, so that we can show what you agreed to. Backup copies are protected from deletion for a set period after they are made (currently up to 90 days) and are then removed.
Your choices and rights
You can ask us to show you the information we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or stop sending you messages. Depending on where you live (for example in the EU, the UK, or California) you may have further rights, and we will honor the rights the law gives you. See Data Deletion for how to ask and what to expect. We reply within 30 days.
Children
FutureWhisper accounts are for adults, and recorders must be adults. Children appear only as recipients, and only because a parent entered their details. We do not knowingly collect information from children directly. If you think a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Security
Recordings are kept in private storage, are never publicly addressable, and are played through short-lived links after we check the person is allowed to hear them. Connections to our service are encrypted. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot promise that nothing will ever go wrong, but we work to prevent it and we will tell affected people if something does.
Changes
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will post the new version here and update the date. If a change affects recorders, we will tell the account holder.
